JD's New Big Boy Room

After JD attempted to break out of his crib one day during naptime, we decided it was time to look into transferring him to a big boy bed.  JD "helped" Robert set up his new toddler bed and was so excited to sleep in his new digs.  The move was bittersweet for Robert and me...we are excited about JD getting so big and growing up, but sad that our baby is not really a baby anymore!  For the most part, JD has done really well in the new bed.  Of course I have caught him playing instead of sleeping a few times, but, he is very much a rule follower.  One of our rules is that if he wants his cherished pacifier, he has to be in his bed.  Well, the times we have caught him out of bed playing, he left that darn pacifier in his bed!  So, I guess he was technically following the rules...sort of.  Regardless, for being 2, the transition has gone really smoothly and we are proud of him for being such a big boy.

Today, however, we had a pretty funny experience...

We put JD down for his nap as normal and assumed that he had fallen asleep because there was silence coming from the monitor.  I was doing stuff around the house and about an hour and a half after we put JD in bed, I was getting ready to leave for an errand when I heard some weird thumps coming from the back of the house.  We have babyproofed the house, so JD can't get out of his room if the door is shut, so I was sure it couldn't be him making the noise.  But, I went to check on him anyway and found a hysterical scene:  JD, playing with his toys, buck naked from the waist down!  He had managed to take off his pants and his diaper and was just playing like everything was normal!  I asked him where his diaper was and he told me very matter-of-factly that it was in the garbage, which it was surprisingly.  So funny!!

I've posted some pictures of JD's big boy room.  The green and blue furniture was my grandmother's and my dad refinished it, so that's really special for us to have for JD's room.  Gee Gee, Granddaddy, Aunt Kim, and Uncle Joey all pitched in for different components of his room and we are very thankful!
