Thanksgiving and a trip to the North Pole!

We had a great Thanksgiving in East Texas!  We were able to spend time with all of our family and we even took a trip to the North Pole!

Because JD's birthday always lands during the week of Thanksgiving, we are thankfully able to celebrate with our families each year.  This year was no different and it was definitely a birthday to remember!

Nana and Papa John could barely stand to wait much past dinner to surprise JD with his birthday gift.

What is it???  Could it be drumsticks?

Wow!  Drum sticks AND a drum!  JD would have be thrilled with only this!

But, then Papa John brought out the rest.  Look at JD's face...he's in total shock!

It didn't take long for him to warm up...

He's even got the tongue working during his first solo...

Papa John showing him how to play the base drum with the foot pedal.

Needless to say, JD is thrilled with his new drums!  He's been practicing a lot and having a ball!

On Friday, we left Hughes Springs and headed to....the NORTH POLE!  The Texas State Railroad in Palestine transforms into a Christmas wonderland during the Holidays and recreates the story the Polar Express.  Since the PE is his FAVORITE movie (it is literally on at our house every day) JD couldn't wait for the ride!

Uncle Dwight and JD waiting expectantly for the train to arrive

JD's cousin, Addie B, peeking around a pole!

JD waving to the Conductor as the train rolls into the station!

The Newlyweds waiting for the train to leave the station!

Gee Gee and JD ready to see the North Pole!

North Pole or Bust!

JD and his hot chocolate.  Yuuuuum!

My cousin's husband, Thomas, and one of the chefs striking a pose!

My Aunt Debbie protecting JD from Santa Claus!  Once Santa handed JD a very special bell, he warmed up to the jolly ol' fellow!

The conductor punching a "B" in JD's ticket.  Remember, the magic never ends for those who believe!

We had a great Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a busy, but fun Christmas season!
