- "Mommy, I'm happy!" (Made my heart melt!)
- After throwing one of his terrible two fits, I asked him if he was finished crying and he said, "No mommy. I'm still throwing my fit." And then, a few moments later, "Ok, I'm all done!"
- After another fit (if you can't tell the terrible two's have DEFINITELY set in and are in full force), I had to give him a spanking and he started crying of course. I asked him if he was ready to get dressed (the issue that seems to spur the most fits) and he looked at me and said, "NO! I STILL CRYING!"
- I had just placed my order for a vanilla diet coke in the drive thru at Sonic and JD says, "Mommy, I would like a 2 splenda latte please." I literally almost fell out of my seat laughing. First, I'm a bit embarrassed that I go to starbucks enough that my 2 year old remembers what I order. But, honestly, I was a little proud too. Robert has a little trouble ordering at Starbucks! If JD had just put "nonfat" in there, it would have been perfect! Disclaimer: the only reason I go to Starbucks a lot is because of the many generous people who flooded me with gift cards for Christmas, my birthday, etc.
- I won't go into much detail on this, but he has started asking questions about his private areas. You can imagine the hilarious things that could come out of his mouth. I told Robert that this was his department so he's been fielding these questions.
- JD also told me this week when he went pee pee and poo poo in his diaper. This was a huge step towards potty training! Yea! Now, if we can just get him to actually sit on his potty again...
- Yesterday Robert asked him if he wanted chicken for dinner and he replied, "I suppose so." So grown up!
- I was helping JD clean up his toys and he looked at me and said, "Thanks! I appreciate it!"
- Lastly, JD has recently become scared of the wind of all things. I am not sure what caused this...I'm thinking that it might be one of the recent "cold" fronts that moved through SA. The wind blew so hard that all of the windows in our house would literally shake. Regardless, he is scared of the wind. We went on a picnic at the park earlier this week and he flipped out when the plastic grocery bag that had all of our food in it rustled in the wind. We had to go home. Not kidding. We were also playing in the back yard on his swingset and he was having the best time. All of a sudden, a big rush of wind came along and he flipped out again. Had to go inside. I have tried to explain to him that the wind isn't going to hurt him and even tried to stay outside so that he can see that it comes and goes, but to no avail. I think I might get a kite so that he can see the cool things that wind can do!
As you can tell, he is very verbal and expressive. He is constantly making us laugh and truly blows us away with what he remembers and can say! It is definitely making us think twice about what WE say around him!
I just remembered that I haven't posted the pictures from our model train expo fun, so I will get those uploaded and post them as soon as possible. We had a great time seeing all of the trains!

Love these! Laughing out loud! If it makes you feel any better when I pull into Starbucks or McDonald's, Reid says, "Mommy get coffee?" So sad...would still love to get together. Just tell me when you can...tues/wed./thurs are out for us for a few weeks due to preschool and a bible study I just started but othere than that, I'm usually free. :)
These are cracking me up! JD is so adorable! And smart, of course. I wish I could hear him say some of these things. Hopefully soon!
Terri - how wonderful and priceless! JD will read this someday and love it! I can't wait to see him again. He sounds like such a joy!
SO FUNNY and True! Carter has been scared of the wind for almost 8 months!! It is crazy!
Hilarious!! I can't wait to get JD and Brett together again! Brett did the thing where he walked around the house saying "I so happy" and it was just the best thing I had ever heard!! I miss you and enjoyed the blog so much!!
